"I always knew that I wanted to help people. I've always had a love for people, a genuine interest in their stories and empathy about their experiences.  After working in several community mental health agencies, as well as public schools and colleges, I  had a lot of insight about how I could change policies and procedures to benefit people and make sure that client services was the top priority. I thought the best way to ensure that I was meeting my professional, personal and moral needs, was to open my own practice.

In April 2020, I opened Sol Counseling & Consulting, a group mental health practice that provides individual and family therapy and wellness services to adults and children. I wanted to fulfill a need in the community for additional women and minority-owned therapy practices that serve others who look like me and my community. I created a counseling practice of therapists that are culturally competent and have a passion for serving others. We strive to make sure our clients feel seen, understood and safe in our therapeutic environment.

I chose the name Sol as a shortened, easier version of the French/Creole word "Soleil"-meaning the sun or sunlight. It signifies hope, healing, empowerment, joy and redemption. The sun is a daily reminder that we too can rise again from the darkness, that we too can shine our own light (S. Anja).

Born of Haitian parents, I am rooted with a love for family, food, music and art. I love to laugh and find joy in making others smile. My hope is that when people connect with Sol, they leave feeling like they want to enjoy life-not merely exist".
